LEGAL UPDATE - New Extension of Validity for Residence Permits
LEGAL UPDATE - PORTUGUESE GOVERNMENT GRANTS NEW EXTENSION OF VALIDITY FOR RESIDENCE PERMITS
On the 30th of June 2022, the Council of Ministers approved the resolution that renews the declaration of the alert situation throughout mainland Portugal, within the scope of the Covid-19 pandemic, with regard to measures whose term ended on the 30th of June 2022.
The Decree-Law No. 42-A/2022, published in the Diário da República (Republic Diary) on the 30th of June, amended the Decree-Law No. 10-A/2020, of 13th of March, so that in its current wording it is foreseen the extension until the 31st of December 2022 of the serviceability of documents and visas related to stay in national territory.
In addition to the above, residence permits and other documents that fall within will continue to be accepted after that date, provided that their holders prove that they have already scheduled the necessary renewal schedules.
In fact, although it is still not possible to make appointments for renewals of residence permits for holders of Residence Permits for Investment - ARI, on the 14th of June 14 2022 it was once again possible to make new registrations on the ARI Portal, as well as the scheduling for the collection of biometric data in the case of new applications for its granting.
